7000 Kilosa residents to benefit from Airtel Tanzania’s communication tower

Airtel Tanzania has built a 4G communication tower in Idete Village, Kilosa district, Morogoro, which is expected to benefit about 7000 residents, a move that will open up opportunities for these residents to benefit economically and socially.

Speaking during a special visit to inspect the progress of the construction of the tower in the village, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, said that the construction of the towers is in line with the mission of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to see a digital Tanzania and see all areas being connected to communication.

“As the District Commissioner said, their farming and their pastoral activities that they do will no longer bother them to go to Kilosa town. So let them stay within the communication so that they can communicate with their customers, sell inputs, and be able to communicate with their relatives. But the important thing is that they can communicate like other Tanzanians,” said Minister Silaa.

He added, “This goal, we, the President’s aides, must ensure that this is achieved. We want this tower to be turned on on April 1st and we want this tower to be officially launched on the 15th and this tower to be officially launched and communication will be available here in Idete.”

Minister Silaa stressed that the communication tower is not only for the people of Idete Village but for 8.5 million people in Tanzania, adding that before the towers were built, the people lacked communication, but His Excellency the President provided funds so that these people could have communication.

For his part, Airtel Tanzania Public Relations Manager, Jackson Mmbando, said that the engineers building the tower have stated that the construction is expected to be completed early and turned on on April 1st this year.

“The biggest thing that our sales team has done so far is that they have already found three senior agents who are residents of this area. Therefore, it is a job that we have provided. But we have also found small agents who are providing Airtel Money services and 10 Airtel Money branches that we have already registered and are already waiting for the tower to be turned on and start working,” said Mmbando.

Mmbando urged citizens to seize the opportunities arising from the tower which is being built in collaboration with the Universal Communications Fund (UCSAF).
