Airtel Tanzania has reinforced its commitment to sports and community development with the official launch of Airtel Stadium in the Singida region. This new facility aims to bridge the gap in sports infrastructure, fostering football development and creating new opportunities for young athletes.

Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister of Information, Arts, Culture, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who made the project possible.
“I would like to thank Airtel and all other stakeholders who contributed to making this stadium a reality. To the people of Singida, this stadium belongs to you. It is your responsibility to maintain it and ensure it remains in excellent condition,” he emphasized.
The Director of Information Technology at Airtel Tanzania, Franky Filman, highlighted the company’s dedication to sports and youth empowerment.
“Airtel’s significant contribution to this stadium underscores our commitment to developing football and creating opportunities for young people in sports and entertainment,” said Filman.
He added that Airtel Stadium would serve as a platform for nurturing football talent while also boosting local economic growth.
“Beyond football, this stadium will host various sporting events, stimulate economic activity, and ensure long-term sustainability. Sports have always been a unifying force, bringing people together across different backgrounds. This facility will not only provide an arena for exciting matches but also create job opportunities, including for Airtel Money agents and product vendors who will serve fans before, during, and after games,” he noted.
Echoing similar sentiments, Makete MP, Festo Sanga, acknowledged the collaborative efforts behind the project and called on additional sponsors to support sports development in the region.
The launch was marked by a friendly match between Singida Black Stars and Yanga SC. However, the game, tied at 1–1, was halted midway through the second half due to heavy rain.
Airtel Stadium stands as a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in transforming sports infrastructure and empowering communities across Tanzania.
