Stanbic Bank gives back to the community with healthcare support in Pwani

Stanbic Bank Tanzania today handed over medical equipment worth TZS 60 million to the Pwani Regional Referral Hospital Tumbi as part of its ongoing efforts to support improved healthcare delivery in Tanzania.

The donation, which included computers, hospital beds, wheelchairs, trolleys, and cleaning equipment, was presented by the Head of Personal and Private Banking, Omari Mtiga, on behalf of the bank, and received by the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Amani Malima.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mtiga said the contribution is part of the bank’s long-term corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at giving back to the community, in line with Stanbic Bank’s 30th anniversary celebrations under the theme ‘30 Years of Growing Together.’

“We recognize the critical role that the health sector plays in the well-being of our communities.

Through this donation, we aim to help the hospital enhance service delivery and improve patient care. This is one of the ways we are celebrating 30 years of growing together with Tanzanians,” said Mtiga.

On his part, Pwani Regional Medical Officer, Dr. Kusirya Ukio, thanked the bank for its generous contribution, noting that the equipment will go a long way in improving efficiency and service delivery to patients.

“This donation has come at the right time, as the hospital has been facing shortages of some essential medical equipment. We sincerely thank Stanbic Bank for this patriotic gesture,” said Dr. Ukio.

The event was part of the Customer Service Week 2025 celebrations under the theme ‘Mission Possible,’ during which Stanbic Bank staff also volunteered to clean various sections of the hospital as part of their community outreach activities.
