Stanbic Bank Tanzania has launched JIWEZESHE a next-generation digital loan product designed to provide fast, inclusive, and collateral-free credit to both salaried and non-salaried individuals, making it one of the most accessible loan offerings in the market today.
Replacing the previous Salary Advance product, JIWEZESHE has been redesigned to reflect the realities of Tanzania’s evolving economy, where many people earn through self-employment, gig work, or informal trade, yet remain locked out of traditional financial services.
Clients can borrow between TZS 50,000 and TZS 5 million, depending on their income pattern and Stanbic account history. For non-salaried individuals with steady income, loans of up to TZS 2.5 million are now available. The service is fully digital, requires no paperwork, no guarantors, and no collateral, and disburses funds instantly upon approval — all from a mobile phone.
“This is more than just a loan. It is a smart, data-driven solution built for the modern Tanzanian,” said Edward Balandya, Head of Digital and eCommerce at Stanbic Bank. “Clients do not need to fill forms, visit a branch, or present collateral. If you have been banking with us for at least six months and your income flows consistently, JIWEZESHE is ready for you, 24/7, wherever you are.”
The bank’s proprietary digital lending model uses behavioural analytics based on real-time account activity to assess eligibility. This innovative approach allows Stanbic to extend credit beyond the formal sector, creating a bridge between structured banking and the informal economy.
“We saw that many Tanzanians have financial discipline, they receive income, and they have plans, but because they do not have traditional employment, they get excluded from credit. JIWEZESHE changes that,” said Emmanuel Mahodanga, Head of Personal Banking. “This product is grounded in the principle of dignity. You do not need to prove your worth to us, your transaction history speaks for you.”
The unique selling proposition of JIWEZESHE lies in three key pillars: inclusion, speed, and control. Clients decide how much to borrow and when, with no collateral and no third-party dependency. The decisioning engine runs on digital behaviour, not titles or paperwork.
For clients facing urgent needs, such as school fees, unexpected bills, business top-ups, or family emergencies, this immediacy is a game-changer.
“It is not just a product launch, it is a mindset shift,” said Godlisten Shirima, Manager Digital & eCommerce. “We are saying to Tanzanians: whether you are salaried, self-employed, or running your own hustle, Stanbic sees you, trusts you, and is ready to support you.”
Shirima added that the product is also open to New-To-Bank clients who can open an account online and immediately begin building eligibility. Stanbic is activating a nationwide awareness campaign across regional radio stations, social media, and influencer platforms, targeting active earners in urban and semi-urban areas who need quick access to flexible funds.
The launch comes at a time when Tanzania is accelerating its national agenda on financial inclusion. According to Finscope data, while mobile money usage is widespread, access to formal credit remains limited, especially among informal income earners and youth entrepreneurs.
Stanbic Bank believes JIWEZESHE directly addresses this gap, providing a solution that is scalable, inclusive, and digitally future-proof.
The loan product is now live and can be accessed through the Stanbic Bank mobile app or the official website. Clients do not need to visit a branch or speak with a bank officer to apply.
“We are redefining what it means to be banked in Tanzania,” Balandya concluded. “JIWEZESHE is not just fast and flexible — it is fair. It puts the power of finance back into the hands of the people.”
