Stanbic Bank hosted a special iftar gathering in Zanzibar, bringing together government leaders, religious leaders, customers, and partners as part of efforts to mark the holy month of Ramadan and strengthen long-standing relationships with stakeholders across the islands.
The gathering offered an opportunity for dialogue, reflection, and fellowship during Ramadan, a period which encourages compassion, unity, and generosity. Guests used the occasion to exchange views on social values, community wellbeing, and the role institutions play in supporting inclusive economic growth.
The Guest of Honour was Hon. Dr. Hamad Omar Bakari, Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning, Zanzibar, who commended Stanbic Bank after the institution was named Best Bank in Tanzania for 2025. He noted the important role strong financial institutions play in advancing Zanzibar’s development agenda and encouraged continued investment in financial solutions that expand opportunities for businesses and citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the bank, Omari Mtiga, Head of Personal and Private Banking, said the gathering reflects Stanbic’s commitment to building strong relationships with communities and partners while supporting values of unity and respect that define the Ramadan season.
He noted that the bank continues to grow its presence in Zanzibar through its recently established branch, which aims to bring best in class financial solutions closer to individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses operating across the islands.
Mtiga invited residents and businesses in Zanzibar who have not yet joined the bank to visit the branch and experience Stanbic’s range of financial solutions designed to support personal growth, business expansion, and long-term financial security.
He added that Stanbic Bank will continue working with government, community leaders, and development partners to contribute to social wellbeing and economic progress in Zanzibar through responsible banking, innovation, and customer-focused financial solutions.
