Airtel Tanzania empowers small businesses and entrepreneurs with ‘Airtel Chapakazi’

Airtel Tanzania has today officially launched Airtel Chapakazi, an all-in-one business solution designed to fuel the growth of entrepreneurs and small businesses across the country.

The launch event, held at the Airtel Tanzania headquarters in Dar es Salaam, reaffirms Airtel’s commitment to inclusive digital development and supporting Tanzania’s broader economic agenda.

Airtel Chapakazi aims to enhance business capacity and ensure enterprise sustainability for Tanzanian entrepreneurs. According to national statistics, only 15 percent of SMEs in Tanzania currently have access to formal digital marketing tools, a gap that Airtel Chapakazi seeks to bridge.

Airtel Chapakazi is the innovative solution levels the playing field by equipping small businesses with the same digital capabilities used by larger enterprises.

Airtel Chapakazi is available in three flexible packages tailored to different business sizes and needs:

●        SME chap pack (TZS 100,000): Includes 2 mobile lines, each with 10GB of data, 1,000 SMS, and 1,000 minutes to all networks. Also includes a free office router with 10 Mbps speed

Speaking at the launch, Joseph Muhere, Director of Business Enterprise at Airtel Tanzania, said Airtel Chapakazi reflects Airtel’s commitment to supporting SMEs with practical digital solutions.

“Airtel Chapakazi offers a simple, agent-assisted onboarding process. Once verified, the customer receives an SMS with a link to download the Chapakazi app from the Play Store. Using their master number, the customer installs the app, registers, selects a package: Fahari, Supa, or Max, and completes payment to activate the service.” he explained.

Muhere highlighted the importance of SMEs in Tanzania’s economy, noting that they account for over 95% of all businesses, employ more than 8 million people, and contribute approximately 35% to the country’s GDP. Yet, many still lack access to digital tools that could unlock their full potential.

“Airtel Chapakazi represents Airtel Tanzania’s long-term commitment to the country’s economic future,” he added. “Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities and key drivers of national growth. Our goal is to be their trusted digital partner helping them connect, compete, and scale in today’s digital economy.”

The launch of Airtel Chapakazi is part of Airtel Tanzania’s broader ambition to promote inclusive, technology-driven progress across the country by equipping businesses with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.
