Businessmen in Dar es Salaam’s Kariakoo Market have praised the efforts of the security forces in protecting the nation following the October 29 protests in some areas of the country.
Speaking at different intervals, the businessmen said the presence of the Police, TPDF and other security organs has brought stability, something that has helped in the resumption of business activities after the chaos that ensued in October.
Siraji Moses, a businessman at the Kariakoo Market on Congo Street, has praised the government’s efforts to effectively oversee defence and security.
“Some young people were hellbent on destroying our country; fortunately, because of the strength of our military, this was averted. The young men do not recognise the contribution of the government.

We appreciate the kind of peace that we enjoy in Tanzania. The young men who are being incited to get involved in chaos should look at other places where peace is rare, and they will learn to appreciate the value of peace,” said Siraji.
Naye Rose Ngaila, a businesswoman in Kariakoo, said that despite the chaos in the past few months, security has been galvanised and business is back to normal at the market.
Citizens also commended the government for issuing directives aimed at preserving peace and upholding the rule of law, stressing that national cohesion remains vital.
Speaking at the Ninth Meeting of the Chiefs of Defence Forces (CDF) and Commanders, which was held at the Air Defence Military School (SKUA) in Tanga, President Samia Suluhu Hassan tasked the TPDF to continue strengthening security because it is the foundation of peace and the nation’s development.
President Samia has said there cannot be any progress without peace; therefore, the TPDF’s role is critical in protecting peace and security.
