Kairuki Commends Airtel for Leadership in Expanding Digital Connectivity

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Hon. Angellah Kairuki, has commended Airtel Tanzania for its continued leadership in delivering high quality communication services across the country, contributing to government revenue, and creating employment opportunities for over 2,000 Tanzanians.

The Minister held in-depth discussions with the Airtel Management Team during her visit at Airtel Head Quarters on 11th December 2025.  The discussion aimed to strengthen collaboration between the government and private sector in ensuring efficient and accessible telecommunications services nationwide.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kairuki stated:
“The government will continue working closely with Airtel Tanzania to ensure digital services reach all Tanzanians, both in urban and rural areas. In addition, she said the government will address all the challenges raised by Airtel management during the meeting in order to improve efficiency in service delivery”.

Airtel Tanzania Managing Director, Mr. Charles Kamoto, expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s visit, noting that Airtel was the first telecommunications company to welcome her since her appointment:
“It is a great honor for Airtel to host the Minister. Although we had planned to visit her first, she decided to visit us, which is truly appreciated. Airtel is committed to expanding communication services across the country, ensuring all Tanzanians can enjoy seamless connectivity,” said Mr. Kamoto.

During the visit, Hon. Kairuki also reviewed Airtel Tanzania’s ongoing CSR initiatives, which continue to create positive impact in communities nationwide. These include:

  • School Connectivity Program – Providing free internet bundles to over 400 secondary schools and supporting more than 2,000 teachers with digital tools to access approved syllabus materials online under Tanzania Institute of education e-library and Shule Direct platform.
  • Digital Inclusion and Youth Empowerment Programs – Empowering youth, women, and skilled workers through digital skills training and access to technology.
  • Community Support Initiatives – Contributing to social welfare, and financial literacy programs that uplift underserved communities.

The Minister’s visit further reinforces Airtel Tanzania’s position as one of the leading telecommunications providers and a key partner in driving national digital transformation, employment, and inclusive growth.
