Dodoma, Tanzania | 8 August 2025

Kilombero Sugar Company, through its flagship product brand Bwana Sukari, has called on distributors and business partners to seize the opportunities presented by the transformative K4 Expansion Project, which is now in its final stages before commissioning.

This call was made during the National Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition held in Dodoma, where Kilombero Sugar strategically participated to showcase both the K4 Expansion Project and the growing market presence of Bwana Sukari.

Speaking at the exhibition, Mr. Fimbo Butallah, Commercial and Supply Chain Director at Kilombero Sugar, emphasized the company’s commitment to market growth:

“Kilombero Sugar, through our product brand Bwana Sukari, is fully committed to serving the market. The K4 Expansion Project, now nearing commissioning, will double our production capacity—adding 144,000 tonnes annually and increasing total output from 126,000 tonnes to 271,000 tonnes per year.” Mr. Butallah further highlighted the strategic implications for business partners:

“This expansion translates into significant opportunities for distributors and partners. With doubled production, we will expand our distribution footprint, create more jobs, and positively impact the entire value chain of Bwana Sukari.”

Representing Kilombero Valley growers, Mr. Clemency Stephen Mjami of Mkula Cane Growers AMCOS shared his optimism:

“As a grower, I am confident in the K4 Expansion Project. Currently, we supply 600,000 tonnes of cane to the mill. Upon completion, we expect to deliver up to 1,500,000 tonnes, significantly boosting grower participation.”

Mr. Mjami also commended Kilombero Sugar’s transparent and timely payment system, which enhances growers’ access to financial services and literacy programs:

“Kilombero Sugar’s payment system builds trust with financial institutions, enabling growers to secure loans and financial packages with confidence.”

At the Sugar Board Pavilion, Prof. Kenneth Bengesi, Director General of the Sugar Board of Tanzania, praised Kilombero Sugar’s strategic investment:

“We congratulate Kilombero Sugar for its visionary investment of over TZS 744 billion in expanding its sugar mills. The government remains committed to safeguarding the sugar industry to ensure national sufficiency and long-term sustainability.”

As the Nane Nane Exhibition reaches its final day, it continues to serve as a vital platform for showcasing cutting-edge agricultural technologies, fostering industry collaboration, and unlocking new opportunities for stakeholders across the value chain.
