In the spirit of fostering unity, togetherness and appreciating the unique diversity of its Muslim stakeholders, NMB Bank, on Wednesday evening, hosted an Iftar event in Dar es Salaam for Muslims who are observing the holy month of Ramadan to break their fast.

The event was graced by the Prime Minster of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa and attended by prominent Government officials, NMB Bank Board members, Muslim clients, leaders of the Islamic community, Muslim staff members, and orphaned children.
Speaking shortly after the Iftar event, the NMB Bank Chief Executive Officer Ruth Zaipuna said the bank not only organized the Iftar event to honor and celebrate the holy month of Ramadan but also celebrate its cultural and religious diversity.
“Organising Iftar events for our Muslim community is in line with our ‘closer to you’ philosophy. For years now, this has become part of our culture. The Iftar events are a sign of gratitude for your continued trust in us as a bank of your choice,” she said.
She added, ‘We will be organising similar events for our Muslim community in Zanzibar, Pemba and Dodoma in the coming day,”
Zaipuna noted that her bank chose to undertake a more inclusive community approach towards its Iftar events by bringing on board orphaned children adding that the bank will hand over an assortment of goodies to cover the entire Ramadhan period to two orphanages in Dar es Salaam.

The Ilala District Sheikh Adam Mwinyipingu who represented the Chief Mufti of Tanzania during the event expressed his profound appreciation to the bank’s board, management and staffs for making the Iftar event happen.
“Ramadan is a period of spiritual rejuvenation which promotes a heightened focus on devotion for guidance and blessings from Allah. Indeed, this Iftar event is a very good gesture since it brings on board vulnerable and orphaned children,” he added.
He seized the opportunity to remind the Muslim community to continue adhering to Allah’s teachings and the sacred religious principles during this holy month of Ramadhan
“We are grateful to you for your prayers, and support, over the years. May Allah bless you abundantly,” he said.




The Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Hamad Chande equally echoed similar sentiments commending the bank for its continuous support and for upholding the Iftar tradition.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to NMB Bank for its unwavering support. Through this act of support, the bank has shown genuine care and dedication to our cause.” He said.
The Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa during the commended the bank’s exemplary leadership under CEO Ruth Zaipuna adding that the bank been playing a pivotal role in complimenting various development efforts undertaken by the Government across the country especially in environment, education and health sectors.
“The bank has touched the lives of many Tanzanians through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy key priority areas including health and education among others. Your efforts are highly commendable,” he added.
