Serengeti Breweries Boosts Industrial Growth Partnership

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, 17 March 2026 – Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) today met with the Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Judith Kapinga, in a strategic engagement focused on strengthening Tanzania’s industrialisation agenda, promote value addition, and expand economic opportunities.

The SBL delegation was led by Finance Director Emmanuel Kyarwenda, alongside senior management.

Discussions centred on the critical role of the private sector in supporting Tanzania’s industrial development through continued investment in local manufacturing, strengthening domestic supply chains, and driving value addition across key sectors of the economy.

As one of Tanzania’s leading manufacturers, SBL contributes significantly to the country’s industrial landscape through its production facilities in Moshi, Dar es Salaam, and Mwanza, which continue to support national manufacturing capacity while creating employment and economic opportunities across multiple sectors.

Through its operations, SBL directly and indirectly employs more than 800 people, while approximately 140,000 individuals benefit indirectly across its extended value chain — including distributors, transporters, retailers, and participants across the hospitality sector.

A key focus of the engagement was the company’s continued investment in local sourcing. SBL sources approximately 20,000 tonnes of grain locally, representing around 80% of its raw material requirements, and contributes over TZS 15 billion annually to its agricultural supply chain.

By integrating locally grown barley, maize, and sorghum into its brewing operations, the company continues to strengthen domestic supply chains, reduce reliance on imports, and contribute to Tanzania’s broader industrialisation agenda.

During the engagement, SBL’s Finance Director Emmanuel Kyarwenda emphasized: “Serengeti Breweries remains committed to supporting Tanzania’s industrialisation journey.

Through our investments in local manufacturing, value addition, and strong domestic supply networks, we are contributing to economic growth while creating opportunities for Tanzanians across our value chain. As Tanzania advances towards its ambition of building a trillion-dollar economy by 2050, the private sector will continue to play a critical role, and we are proud to be part of that transformation.”

Hon. Judith Kapinga, Minister for Industry and Trade, commended the company’s continued investment, noting: “The Government values strong private sector partners such as Serengeti Breweries who are contributing to Tanzania’s industrial development through local manufacturing, value addition, and job creation.

Continued collaboration between government and industry is essential in strengthening domestic production, expanding supply chains, and unlocking sustainable economic growth.”

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration between government and the private sector in promoting industrial growth, strengthening local production, and expanding value addition across Tanzania’s economy.
