Stanbic Donates Medical Equipment Worth 25m/- to Goba Health Centre

Stanbic Bank has donated medical equipment worth more than 25 million shillings to Goba Health Centre in Dar es Salaam, as part of bank’s CSR  efforts to help improve health care services in the country.

The donation which includes one suction machine unit, one patient monitor, one oxygen concentrator, three rolls of cotton cloth, two manual vacuum aspirator units, three tablets, one TV, two desktop computers, and one armored cable was handed over by Stanbic Bank’s  Regional Manager, Ms. Edditrice Marco, on behalf of the bank. It was received by the Head Doctor of Goba Health Centre, Dr. Elias Ndahani, and witnessed by the guest of honor, Kibamba Ward Officer, Beatrice Mbawala.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Stanbic Regional Manager, Ms. Edditrice Marco, said the donation from their Industrial branch is part of Stanbic Bank’s ongoing corporate social responsibility program aimed at giving back to the community, coinciding with the celebration of 30 years of Growing Together since the bank began operations in Tanzania.

“We recognize the significant contribution of the health sector to community well-being. Through this donation, we aim to support hospitals and health centres to provide better services to patients and enhance the efficiency of healthcare providers. This is one of the ways we are celebrating 30 years of growing together with Tanzanians,” said Ms. Marco.

For his part, the Medical Officer of the centre, Dr. Elias Ndahani, expressed his gratitude to the bank for the donation, noting that the equipment will help improve efficiency in service delivery. “This assistance has come at the right time because our centre is new, and it covers every area, particularly the surgical section, which will greatly help save the lives of mothers during childbirth. The breathing-support machines will also help save the lives of babies who encounter complications,” he said.

The guest of honor, Kibamba Ward Officer Beatrice Mbawala, speaking on behalf of the Ubungo District Commissioner, Hon. Albert Msando, said: “This health centre does not only serve residents of Goba but also neighboring areas. Therefore, I urge the medical officer and nurses to take good care of this equipment so it can benefit the Goba community.” She added, “Stanbic Bank has donated equipment worth over 25 million shillings, which is a significant amount of money. They could have simply issued loans to earn profit, but they chose to come to the community to support healthcare services. This bank not only helps the health sector but also supports education and the environment. I would like to thank the management of Stanbic Bank Tanzania for this spirit of generosity,” said Beatrice.
