Zanzibar is set to benefit from a potential surge in tourists and investors as 16 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from prominent Brazilian tourism companies arrive in the region. This visit, hosted by local tour operator Take a Trip, marks a significant milestone in fostering closer ties between Tanzania and Brazil.
At a reception welcoming the Brazilian delegation, Abdulsamad Abdulrahim, the Honorary Consul General of Brazil in Zanzibar, highlighted the importance of this visit. He credited the joint efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi for bringing this opportunity to fruition.
“This visit is a direct outcome of the Royal Tour film spearheaded by President Samia and Dr. Mwinyi,†Mr. Abdulrahim said. He recalled how, following the film’s debut, a Tanzanian delegation had traveled to Brazil, engaging in tourism exhibitions that enhanced Tanzania’s profile.
The arrival of the Brazilian CEOs comes on the heels of a recent visit by 37 Brazilian investors exploring various sectors in Tanzania. This previous visit has further elevated Tanzania’s visibility in Brazil.
Mr. Abdulrahim anticipates that the Brazilian CEOs will not only boost interest in Zanzibar but also promote Tanzania across Latin America and the United States. In their preliminary assessments, the CEOs have identified Zanzibar as a prime investment destination, noting significant advancements in infrastructure like airports, roads, and tourist attractions.
“The CEOs have observed Zanzibar’s progress firsthand and will return to Brazil with a positive outlook on our destination,†Mr. Abdulrahim explained. He urged Zanzibaris to warmly welcome their visitors and build strong networks to enhance tourism and the blue economy.
In related news, Brazilian Ambassador to Tanzania H.E. Gustavo Martins Nogueira and his delegation yesterday, 4th September 2024, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Mahmoud Kombo in Dar es Salaam.
The ambassador provided an update on the Brazilian business delegation’s visit, which is exploring investment opportunities across various sectors including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, livestock, infrastructure, automotive, medical, machinery, aviation, technology, and ethanol. This visit underlines a pivotal moment for Zanzibar, signaling increased interest and investment from Brazil and beyond.
