The Director of the Department of Eastern and Central Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Abdallah Kilima, has announced that PMM Tanzania Ltd has unveiled three ships that will be used to boost trade between Tanzania and Oman.
He noted that PMM will play a crucial role in supporting the government’s efforts to strengthen trade and economic growth through the transportation sector.
Ambassador Kilima made the remarks in Dar es Salaam while accompanying a delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce, which visited PMM Company—a firm engaged in transportation and mineral-related activities.
“We have been with the business delegation from Oman since September 7, 2025, and today marks the conclusion of their itinerary. We are here to showcase the capabilities of our local companies, and this visit is part of efforts to enhance trade between Tanzania and Oman,” said Ambassador Kilima.
He stressed that trade cannot flourish without reliable transport, adding that PMM has already demonstrated its readiness by showcasing three ships to facilitate smooth trade between the two nations.

“PMM will be a vital link in supporting government efforts. We expect significant growth in trade between our countries, with reliable transport for exporting Tanzanian goods to Oman and importing Omani products into Tanzania,” he added.
On her part, Dr. Judith Spendi, the Executive Chairperson of PMM Group, said the delegation’s visit is a major step toward strengthening economic ties. She explained that their vessels will help transport Tanzanian products such as goat meat, beef, salt, vegetables, and flowers to Oman, while also importing goods such as fuel and construction materials from Oman.
“As transporters, we see this as a huge opportunity to boost the economy. We will ship many containers with our vessels, carrying Tanzanian products to Oman and bringing back essential Omani supplies,” said Dr. Spendi.
She further pointed out that there are broader opportunities for investors, including dry port development, agriculture, machinery manufacturing (especially those not locally available), as well as establishing factories for bottled water and pharmaceutical products.
Meanwhile, Salim Albusaidi, one of the Omani businessmen in the delegation, said their five-day visit across Tanzania allowed them to explore diverse investment opportunities.
“We identified opportunities in vegetables, fruits, transport, tourism, minerals, meat, fish distribution, and fish processing,” Albusaidi said.
He added that Oman chose Tanzania due to its strong historical ties and the country’s promising investment climate.
“We value the progress Tanzania is making, and some agreements have already been signed. We are delighted to see more investors coming in. We also encourage Tanzanians to consider investing in Oman,” he said.
