Amref Health Africa – Tanzania has received a generous donation of Tanzania Shillings 100 million (approximately USD 38,500) from NBC Bank during the recently held NBC Marathon in Dodoma. The funds will support the implementation of Autism focused initiatives through the training of healthcare providers in Amref Tanzania supported regions.
The marathon, which brought together hundreds of participants from across the country, served not only as a platform to promote physical wellness, but also as a space for advancing social impact and inclusive health interventions.
A donation of 100 million Tanzanian Shillings (USD 38,500) will enable Amref Health Africa in Tanzania to train frontline health workers in the identification, management, and care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This initiative aligns with Amref’s broader mission to promote inclusive, equitable, and community driven healthcare services across the country.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Florence Temu, Country Director of Amref Health Africa in Tanzania, expressed deep appreciation for NBC’s partnership and commitment:
“This support from NBC is a milestone in our efforts to strengthen autism care in Tanzania. Training health workers is a critical step toward early diagnosis and comprehensive care for children with autism,” said Dr. Temu. “We commend NBC for its continued investment in the health and dignity of our communities.”
NBC’s contribution reflects its strong commitment to social responsibility and improving the lives of vulnerable groups through strategic partnerships.
Amref Tanzania remains committed to collaborating with government institutions, civil society, and the private sector to build a health system that leaves no child behind particularly those living with autism and other developmental challenges.
