More than 300 citizens in the city of Arusha, are expected to receive specialist treatment for heart, spinal cord and back problems from American based specialist Munaf Shamji.
The treatment will be given for five days at the expert treatment camp that will be held at the Aga Khan Hospital in Arusha and will be led by Dr. Munaf in collaboration with Dr. Mugisha Clement.
This was said yesterday in Arusha by Dr. Vaneshwari Ashok Bamania, while talking to journalists regarding the medical camp that will be held from April 27 to May,2026.
She said heart and blood vessel diseases include high blood pressure, blockage of heart blood vessels, heart valves failing to work properly and the problem of heart dilation are among the main causes of death in this country.
However, she said that according to various statistics that have been conducted, approximately 56,000 deaths occur every year in Tanzania caused by heart and blood vessel diseases.
She said that it is estimated that 25 to 40 percent of adults in this country have high blood pressure, but most of them do not know their condition and if people do not detect it early, it can cause serious consequences including stroke, heart failure, kidney damage and sudden death.
Talking about diseases of the back, spine, brain and nerves, Dr. Vaneshwari said that there is an increase in these diseases, causing people to live with back and neck pain for a long time.
Baraka Falesi, Project Manager of the TANLINK Medical Tourism Agency, said that the institution is involved in coordinating and managing human treatment in the country and abroad.
He said the camp is aimed at supporting the government’s efforts to make Tanzania a part of the tourism hub for citizens to get better services.
However he said the expert medical camp has been coordinated by the institutionin collaboration with the Aga Khan Hospital to ensure that citizens meet competent doctors and get expert and competent services.
