SICPA highlights fuel integrity at Viwango Forum

As a strategic technology partner to the Tanzania Bureau of Standards, SICPA demonstrated how its national Fuel Integrity Solution is protecting consumers, securing government revenues, and advancing quality assurance in Tanzania’s petroleum sector.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania | 5 June 2026 – SICPA Tanzania participated as a strategic partner at the Viwango Business Forum, held on 5 June 2026 at the Mlimani City Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam, as part of the official celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS).

The forum brought together government institutions, regulators, industry leaders, and market stakeholders for a national dialogue on standards, quality assurance, and industrial development.

As TBS marks five decades of advancing quality standards across Tanzania’s economy, the Viwango Business Forum served as a forward-looking platform for shaping the standards ecosystem that will underpin the country’s next phase of growth. SICPA’s participation at the forum reflected the company’s conviction that fuel integrity is a core pillar of fair trade, effective governance, and sustainable national development.

At its exhibition booth, SICPA showcased the national Fuel Integrity Solution, implemented in collaboration with TBS to detect and deter fuel adulteration, smuggling, and illicit trade across Tanzania’s petroleum supply chain.

The solution combines advanced forensic markers with real-time verification tools ,enabling regulators and enforcement agencies quantitatively detect fuel adulteration and to verify fuel compliance with a high degree of precision.

The programme has delivered measurable improvements in fuel quality compliance, strengthened the enforcement capacity of regulatory institutions, and supported the government’s effort of safeguard domestic revenues while promoting a transparent and accountable business environment.

Fuel adulteration carries significant economic and social consequences, damaging vehicle engines and industrial equipment, eroding consumer confidence, putting compliant market participants while substandard fuel affects the environment and citizens’ health.

At the macroeconomic level, illicit fuel trade results in significant losses for governments and distorts competitive market dynamics. Since its introduction, the SICPA Fuel Integrity Solution has become an integral part of Tanzania’s regulatory landscape, supporting authorities in strengthening fuel market oversight and reinforcing long-term trust across the petroleum sector.
