Aurobindo AKSC and Alliance Caravans will battle for the Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup 2026 title after emerging as the tournament’s top two teams following an entertaining Super Six campaign.
The finalists sealed their places in the championship decider with commanding victories in the final round of Super Six matches, setting up what promises to be a fitting climax to one of the most competitive domestic cricket tournaments staged in Tanzania.
The grand final will be played on Sunday, August 2, at the TCA Arena at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), where the champion will be crowned after five weeks of intense competition involving eight teams.
Alliance Caravans reinforced their title credentials with an emphatic 84-run victory over Aruti Aces. After posting an imposing 182 for two, Alliance produced a disciplined bowling display to dismiss Aruti for just 98, completing another convincing performance in a tournament in which they have remained one of the most consistent sides.
Aurobindo AKSC secured the second place in the final after defeating Mapito Upanga SC by 43 runs. Aurobindo scored 163 for six before restricting Mapito to 120 for nine, with Riziki Kiser leading the bowling attack with four wickets in a match-winning spell that earned him the Ras Logistics Player of the Match award.
Earlier, Novum Lions rounded off their campaign on a winning note after defeating Tossil SCC by 35 runs. Umar Shaikh produced an outstanding all-round performance, scoring 39 runs before claiming three wickets to guide his side to victory after Novum successfully defended 166 for six.
The Super Six stage lived up to expectations, producing high-quality cricket and keeping the race for the final alive until the last round. Alliance Caravans finished the stage unbeaten, while Aurobindo AKSC recovered from an early setback to book their place in the title decider through consistent all-round performances.
Alongside the battle for the trophy, attention will also be on the PigaBet Player of the Series Award, which has added another layer of competition by recognising the tournament’s most complete performer across batting, bowling, fielding and overall match-winning contributions. The winner will be announced after Sunday’s final.
Tournament representative Girish Kumar said the competition had achieved its objective of providing a high-quality platform for domestic cricket while showcasing some of the country’s finest talent.
“The Super Six stage demonstrated the quality and competitiveness of this year’s tournament. Every match carried significance, and the players responded with outstanding performances under pressure,” Kumar said.
“Beyond identifying the champions, the tournament has provided a valuable platform for players to showcase their abilities, while initiatives such as the PigaBet Player of the Series Award have helped recognise consistent excellence throughout the competition. That is important for the continued growth and visibility of cricket in Tanzania.”
Sunday’s final is expected to attract a large crowd to the TCA Arena as Alliance Caravans and Aurobindo AKSC battle for the Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup 2026 title, bringing the curtain down on a tournament that has delivered exciting contests, outstanding individual performances and a significant boost to the domestic cricket calendar.
