Brazilian football star Vinicius Junior returned to public view days after Brazil’s early elimination from the 2026 World Cup, drawing attention with changes to his chin and jawline following a cosmetic procedure.
The 26-year-old had stayed out of the public eye after the national team departed from the tournament before turning up at the opening of a gym owned by his girlfriend, Virginia Fonseca.
Public appearance brings facial changes into focus
Images from the event showed that Vinicius had undergone a facial procedure. According to reports in the Brazilian media, the operation was carried out recently to make his chin and jawline appear more defined.
Doctor Alessandro Alarcao, who treated the footballer, later confirmed on social media that Vinicius had undergone what he described as facial naturalization surgery, a cosmetic procedure intended to reshape facial features while maintaining a natural appearance.

Alarcao said it had been a pleasure to welcome Vinicius to the clinic, describing him as a talented footballer with kindness, simplicity and positive energy.

Vinicius Junior broke his silence after Brazil were knocked out in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, using social media to set out the frustration felt across the squad following their early departure.
After taking several days to reflect on the result, the forward said representing Brazil remained the greatest source of pride in his career, while admitting that leaving the tournament so soon had been difficult to process.
“Wearing the national team shirt is the greatest pride of my life, and going out of a World Cup in the Round of 16 is a feeling that is hard to explain,” Vinicius said.He added that the elimination had dealt a significant emotional blow after an extended period of preparation and focus alongside his family and teammates.
“The feeling of frustration is absurd. We had a group strong enough to do more, and we couldn’t,” he said.

Real Madrid return set to shift focus back to club football
Following Brazil’s World Cup elimination, Vinicius is expected to turn his attention to Real Madrid’s preseason preparations, although it remains unclear when the Brazilian winger will report back to the club.
Real Madrid are looking to bounce back after going two consecutive seasons without winning a trophy following Jose Mourinho’s appointment. The Spanish club have also remained active in the summer transfer market, bringing in several new players as part of their rebuilding efforts.
World Cup-winning Spain defender Marc Cucurella joined from Chelsea, while Real Madrid also signed Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate and Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.Real Madrid are scheduled to face Fiorentina in a preseason friendly on Aug. 1, although Vinicius’ involvement in the match has not yet been confirmed.
