Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Vodacom Tanzania Plc officially reaffirmed its position to aspire to become, “More Than a Network” (Zaidi ya Mtandao), a demonstration of the company’s long-term commitment to creating meaningful impact beyond connectivity by enabling opportunities for people, businesses and communities across Tanzania.
According to the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority Communications for the quarter ended March 2026, Vodacom led the market with 32.3% of the total market share (36.1 million customers). Vodacom’s quarterly report for the period ended June 2026 has stated a nearly double level of investment compared to the corresponding quarter in the previous year, amounting to TZS 123.2 billion, this coupled with the M-Pesa platform modernization, lives up to the ‘More Than a Network’ mantra – advancing Tanzania’s digital inclusion agenda, and bridging the digital divide by enabling more Tanzanians to participate in the digital economy.
Speaking during the launch, Brigita Shirima, Director of the Consumer Business Unit, said the campaign represents Vodacom’s commitment to ensuring that technology delivers real value and meaningful outcomes for customers.
“More Than a Network is our promise that connectivity must go beyond technology and create real impact in people’s lives. Whether it is helping a student access digital learning, enabling families to stay connected, or supporting entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, our purpose is to create opportunities that improve lives. A network is not defined through the infrastructure and services, but by the possibilities unlocked for people, businesses and communities across Tanzania.”
Speaking on the role of digital solutions in driving business growth, Nguvu Kamando, Director of Vodacom Business, said digital transformation is no longer limited to large organisations but is creating opportunities across sectors and communities.
“Today’s businesses need more than connectivity. They need intelligent digital solutions that help them innovate, compete and grow. Vodacom Business supports enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses and institutions with a range of offerings including: secure connectivity, cloud solutions, Internet of Things technologies and digital platforms improving their productivity and unlocking more economic opportunities. More Than a Network means being a trusted Digital partner as Tanzania embarks on its Dira 2050 journey.”
Speaking on financial inclusion, Tulisindo Mlupilo, Acting Director, M-Pesa at Vodacom Tanzania, highlighted the role of M-Pesa in driving financial inclusion and enabling digital financial services to millions of Tanzanians.
“The M-Pesa ecosystem empowers more than 14.1 million customers each month through products and services that allow them to save (M-KOBA), have access to credit (SONGESHA), build wealth (M-WEKEZA), digitize merchant payment (LIPA) and while still enabling per to per transactions at its core. This is complemented by the upgrade to the M-Pesa platform geared to scaling our financial services offerings more efficiently and supporting the digitalisation of Tanzania’s economy. Vodacom’s commitment is to continue exploiting technology as a means for enabling financial inclusion and value for our customers – living up to the ‘More Than a Network’ mantra.”
Vodacom believes a network is not measured by just its coverage or technology, but by the possibilities it unlocks in people’s everyday lives.
As Vodacom continues to invest in its network, enhance customer experience and develop innovative digital solutions, “More Than a Network” will remain the unifying promise behind every product, every innovation and every initiative designed to improve lives across Tanzania.
