Bayport Financial Services Tanzania has commemorated its 20th anniversary by donating 20 HP computers and two all-in-one printers worth TZS 100 million to the Education Department of Kibamba Constituency, reaffirming its commitment to supporting education and national development.
The donation was officially handed over during a ceremony at Anazaki primary school Kimara, attended by the Guest of Honour, Hon. Angellah Jasmine Kairuki, Member of Parliament for Kibamba Constituency, alongside district leaders, education officials, members of the media, and Bayport representatives.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Bayport Financial Services Tanzania Chief Credit Officer, Amina Amani, said the donation was part of the company’s efforts to create a lasting legacy as it celebrates two decades of serving Tanzanians.
“As we reflected on how best to celebrate this milestone, we asked ourselves how we could create a legacy that would continue making a difference long after the celebrations are over. The answer was clear, we wanted to make an investment that would continue creating value for communities and support Tanzania’s development journey,” said Amani.
Over the past 20 years, Bayport has served more than 430,439 Tanzanians, primarily civil servants, and has disbursed over TZS 529 billion in loans, helping customers achieve their personal and financial goals.
The donated computers and printers are expected to strengthen digital education management systems within Kibamba Constituency by improving administrative efficiency, record management, and access to technology for education officials.
“These computers represent more than technology; they represent opportunity. They will support education officers and teachers who are shaping the future of our nation while strengthening service delivery through digital transformation,” Amani added.
Bayport noted that as Tanzania continues to advance its digital transformation agenda, access to modern technology remains critical for enhancing public services and preparing future generations for success in a digital economy.
The company emphasized that the donation reflects its broader commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen and an active partner in national development beyond providing financial services.
Bayport also expressed appreciation to its customers, particularly Tanzania’s civil servants, whose trust and support have enabled the company’s growth and success over the past two decades.
The donation forms part of Bayport’s 20th Anniversary Corporate Social Investment initiative, aimed at creating sustainable impact within the communities it serves.
Speaking immediately after receiving the ICT equipment, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Kairuki—who is also the Member of Parliament for Kibamba—said that the donation marks the official launch of the “Make Kibamba Digital” strategy, beginning with the enhancement of technology use in the education sector.
She added that the ICT equipment’s have come at the right time, as it will facilitate education administration, inter-departmental communication, examination coordination, and service delivery to teachers, parents, and students.
“We will begin with the education departments, but this is part of a broader plan to transform Kibamba into a digital constituency. We will continue to supply ICT equipment to secondary schools, ward offices, and other public service areas in phases,” said Kairuki.
She noted that preparations are already complete to equip secondary schools with ICT tools—including computers, projectors, and other modern equipment—emphasizing that this rollout will take place gradually over a period of three to four years.
Furthermore, she expressed her gratitude to Bayport Financial and the Ubungo Municipal Education Department for their cooperation, noting that Bayport will continue to collaborate with the government and the community to implement projects that benefit the public.
