Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. –PowerChina defeated CCECC 63-30 in the final of the 2026 Chinese Basketball Tournament at Don Bosco Grounds, Namanga, bringing to a close a competition supported by Stanbic Bank Tanzania through a TZS 30 million sponsorship, with the bank also participating as one of the competing teams.
At the closing ceremony, Stanbic Bank also presented the runners-up trophy to CCECC, reaffirming its long-standing support for initiatives that strengthen relationships between the Chinese and Tanzanian business communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Elias Ngunangwa, Head of Client Coverage, Corporate & Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, said the tournament had done what few boardrooms can.
“What we have seen on this court over the past weeks is sports diplomacy at work. Teams that compete against each other here are the same companies building roads, power plants and industries across Tanzania, and the trust they build through sport carries straight into business. Congratulations to PowerChina on a commanding final, and to CCECC on a strong run to second place,” he said.
“Our sponsorship was never only about funding a competition. Jiang Yuntao, President of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Tanzania (CEA), thanked the sponsors and congratulated the finalists.
