Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – June 2026: Stanbic Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing healthcare access across the region with a TZS 20 million sponsorship to the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) Medical & Surgical Camps Initiative — a program set to deliver free surgical and medical care to underserved communities in July 2026.
The sponsorship cheque was presented early this week by Mr. Manzi Rwegasira, Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Tanzania, to Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, Director General of ECSA-HC. The funding will support camps to be rolled out across selected health facilities in Malawi, as well as the Arusha and Mtwara regions of Tanzania, where specialist teams will treat patients who would otherwise go without access to surgery and quality care.
Between 2025 and 2026, Stanbic Bank Tanzania has contributed more than TZS 230 million toward health and social impact initiatives, reflecting the Bank’s continued commitment to strengthening community wellbeing and supporting access to essential services. Through partnerships in healthcare, education and community development, the Bank continues to play an active role in advancing inclusive growth and improving lives in the communities it serves.

Mr. Rwegasira was accompanied by Mr. Fredrick Max, Head of Business & Commercial Banking, and Ms. Doreen Dominic, Head of Public Sector (BCB), underscoring the breadth of the Bank’s commitment to the partnership.
The contribution lands in a milestone year for the Bank, which is marking three decades of growing with Tanzanians. Over 30 years, Stanbic Bank Tanzania has positioned itself not merely as a financial institution but as a partner in the country’s social and economic progress and the ECSA-HC sponsorship extends that purpose beyond Tanzania’s borders to the wider region.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Rwegasira reiterated the Bank’s purpose-driven approach, “As Stanbic Bank, we remain committed to creating meaningful impact in the communities we serve. Partnerships such as this reflect our belief that sustainable development is driven through collaboration, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare.”

Accepting the sponsorship, the Director General of ECSA-HC highlighted the organization’s extensive work in confronting the region’s most pressing public health challenges, from Ebola and malaria to other communicable diseases and stressed the decisive role partnerships play in strengthening health systems and enabling timely responses to emerging risks.
“Health is the foundation on which communities and economies are built and no single institution can carry that responsibility alone. Stanbic Bank’s support helps us bring specialist care directly to the people who need it most, while encouraging wider partner support for stronger health outcomes across the region,” said Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, Director General of ECSA-HC.
Stanbic Bank’s contribution was also recognized as an important step in mobilizing wider partner support and strengthening collaboration toward sustainable healthcare outcomes across the region.
The engagement reflects Stanbic’s growing role as a regional impact partner, using strategic partnerships to support healthcare access, strengthen communities and contribute to broader social and economic development.
