Speaking during the 50th anniversary celebrations of TBS, SICPA Tanzania Representative Alfred Mapunda said Tanzania’s development ambitions depend on strong systems that build trust, protect product quality, and promote fair competition.
He noted that for the past five decades, TBS has played a pivotal role in strengthening consumer confidence, supporting economic growth, and safeguarding public interests. He added that collaboration between TBS, TRA, law enforcement agencies, and SICPA through the National Fuel Marking Programme has improved fuel quality compliance, enhanced market transparency, promoted fair competition, and boosted government revenue collection.

Mapunda said these achievements demonstrate that Tanzania’s future development will be driven by effective partnerships that promote transparency, accountability, and public trust.
“Fifty years ago, a decision was made that quality should not be left to chance but become a national priority. Today, we celebrate 50 years of building trust between products and consumers, insisting on excellence, and laying a strong foundation for national development,” he said.
He congratulated TBS for its significant contribution to strengthening standards, fostering trust, and supporting Tanzania’s progress toward the goals of Vision 2050.
